last summer at skip’s summer school i heard roberto valenzuela speak about practice. he said that the old adage, “practice makes perfect” doesn’t really help much if you’re not doing it right. a better saying would be “perfect practice makes perfect.”
last night i set up my lights and did a little “perfect practice.” these two shots are my favorite. my grouchy cat just happened to be sitting in the right place at the right time and i caught this shot just before he decided flashing lights were not his thing. my son came in as a stand-in for the cat and thought it would be funny to hide his face – because that’s the cool thing to do when you’re 10 and your mom is trying to take your picture.
