yes, this is starbucks promotional material, but i really loved this video because it shows that even a small thing like bringing coffee to chemo patients every thursday can make a big difference in people’s lives. i’m motivated to do a little thing to help someone today, and i hope you are too.

last summer at skip’s summer school i heard roberto valenzuela speak about practice. he said that the old adage, “practice makes perfect” doesn’t really help much if you’re not doing it right. a better saying would be “perfect practice makes perfect.”
last night i set up my lights and did a little “perfect practice.” these two shots are my favorite. my grouchy cat just happened to be sitting in the right place at the right time and i caught this shot just before he decided flashing lights were not his thing. my son came in as a stand-in for the cat and thought it would be funny to hide his face – because that’s the cool thing to do when you’re 10 and your mom is trying to take your picture.

deona was one of the models for a christmas shoot at a local studio in pensacola, florida. she is a lovely lady, both inside and out, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. isn’t she gorgeous??!! she is fairly new to modeling and i’m sure she will be fabulously successful. leave her some encouragement below in the comments!

this one is my favorite! i love how her eyes catch the light.

i had the privilege of second shooting jessica & tyler’s wedding with the fabulous dawn murph of dawn murph photography. jessica & tyler are from northern alabama, and traveled to the gulf coast for a beach wedding on destin’s beautiful shores. the wedding was held at henderson beach state park, and they also had a portrait session at eden gardens state park in point washington.
weddings seem to go so much more smoothly when the bride & groom choose to do a “first look” before the wedding, and that’s what jessica & tyler chose to do. he’s a pretty cool guy, but seeing jessica in all her wedding gorgeousness when he turned around made him pretty much speechless.

eden gardens has an historic home and lovely grounds. it is a beautiful setting! who can resist tyler’s adorable grin…and what a HOT couple!

tyler was so attentive to jessica throughout the day…kissing on her, carrying her bouquet, lifting the train when she walked.

the colors were so vibrant – coral and hot pink are perfect for an end-of-summer wedding. we headed over to the beach for the ceremony…

…and squeezed in a few more photos of the glowing bride.

the ceremony was held at that magical time known as the “golden hour”…just before sunset, when everything is just glowing. so much love here!

congratulations, jessica & tyler! may you have many blissful years together!
